Required Qualifications:
· Must have a minimum of 3-5 years of related commercial construction and renovation experience.
· Education and practical experience in a construction and renovation related field, building science, construction management or other related discipline and/or equivalent professional work experience.
· Strong knowledge of interior systems, finishes, and fit-ups.
· Working knowledge of building envelope and roofing systems, concrete work including restoration, and asphalt paving types.
· Past technical building experience in multi-unit residential, commercial and or industrial i.e. restoration work, fit-ups, finishing work.
· Effective communication in both verbal and written English.
· Must be proficient in MS Word and Excel.
· Sound knowledge of CCDC forms and provincial and local building codes and legislation.
· Proven effective time management and logical decision-making ability.
· Capacity to motivate, lead and boost morale of team members.
· Must have own vehicle and a clean driver’s abstract.
· Must be available to work flexible hours.
Key Responsibilities:
You will oversee an entire construction and renovation project, or multiple projects and be accountable for, at a minimum the following:
· Preparing project budgets;
· Preparing schedules of different phases of a project to ensure projects are completed within established deadlines;
· Participating in contract negotiations with vendors and senior staff;
· Monitoring cost and quality control of the work to ensure high standards are met;
· Planning and coordinating all aspects of the construction and renovations process, including working relationships with engineers, architects and vendors;
· Communicating schedules, updates and interferences with Administration team in order to keep residents well informed;
· Securing building permits and licenses when required;
· Needing to demonstrate strong administrative and budgeting skills, as you will be working closely with the Construction Finance team;
· Ensuring compliance to InterRent and CLV’s quality control standards;
· Ensuring all Health and Safety standards are adhered to by all team members;
· Communicating to senior management status on all projects;
· Resolving and advising senior management of potential problems;
· Anticipating and resolving project issues and scheduling difficulties, and
· Create detailed design drawings and renderings
· Advising on materials, technology, and processes involved in building design.
· Responsible for the preparation of architectural CADD designs for all assigned projects.
· Performing other related duties as required
· Travel required
