Required Qualifications:

Diploma in Early Childhood Education and registration with the College of Early Childhood Educators.
Minimum 2 years of experience working with urban core children infants to 12 years.
Experience working in a child care setting, with parents and with community partners.
Documentation to support ongoing professional development in the field of early learning and care.
Current First aid/CPR, Safe Food Handling Certificate, Non-Violent Crisis Intervention certificate.

We are seeking a dynamic, highly motivated Registered Early Childhood Educator who demonstrates our values of compassion, accountability, responsiveness and empowerment; to our clients, families and each other.

The Registered Early Childhood Educator will be working in a licensed child care program (infants to school age) providing a positive learning environment that supports children’s emotional, social, cognitive and physical growth and development. Wesley’s Registered Early Childhood Educators care for and observe children each day to understand and foster their interests and provide an engaging and stimulating environment and program.

This is a unionized, relief position. The rate of pay is $16.08 per hour. Wage enhancement/wage subsidy is available in addition to the rate of pay based on criteria and funding available from the City of Hamilton.

Key Responsibilities:

Develop, plan, promote, implement and evaluate day to day operations of the program with the support of the Supervisor, Early Years and other staff.
Plan and implement programming based on the Ministry of Education’s pedagogy “How Does Learning Happen?.
Create and maintain a safe learning environment that is responsive to the interests and needs of the children in the program.
Be familiar with and adhere to licensing requirements per the Ministry of Education, Child Care and Early Years Act (2014).
Oversee student placements, volunteers, ensuring appropriate staffing at all times and complete required evaluations.
Ensure program number of participants stay within target enrollment.
Ensure accurate time sheets and incident reports are submitted to the Supervisor, Early Years in a timely manner.
Provide quality, play-based learning and supervision of all children in the care of Wesley Urban Ministries at all times.
Ensure program needs are being met and in compliance with program licensing requirements.
Be knowledgeable about content of program and working directly with families that access it.

As a condition of employment, the successful candidate is required to submit proof of full COVID-19 vaccination to Human Resources.
