Retirement Announcement of Kelly Duffin

Dear Goodwill Amity Community,

On behalf of Goodwill Amity’s Board of Directors, I am announcing the retirement of Kelly Duffin, our President and CEO, effective September 27, 2024. Kelly advised the Board of her retirement in June, and we are actively engaged in the recruitment process for her role. Over the past six years, Kelly has provided outstanding leadership and unwavering dedication to our mission, making a significant impact on our organization and the communities we serve.

Under Kelly’s guidance, Goodwill Amity successfully navigated the unprecedented challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic. Her leadership ensured that we could continue to respond to the community’s needs while keeping our staff employed and securing crucial funding. This included transforming our Stairways Café and Catering Division into a community kitchen, serving over 175,000 meals in partnership with organizations caring for Hamilton’s most vulnerable residents.

After successfully stabilizing the business in 2018 and 2019, Kelly has led a renewed strategy of growth with the recent expansion of our thrift store operations, including the opening of two new attended donation centres in Burlington and Oakville. These initiatives will enhance our sustainability efforts in these communities and, through thrift store proceeds, support the delivery of free employment services, furthering our mission of changing lives through the power of work.

We will miss Kelly’s exceptional leadership and advocacy. She helped to create many new partnerships and elevated Goodwill Amity’s presence and impact in the community. We are confident that the foundations she has built will continue to support our mission for many years.

As Kelly embarks on her well-deserved retirement, we extend our heartfelt thanks and best wishes for her future endeavors. Her impact on Goodwill Amity and the broader community has been significant, and we are honored to have had her at the helm.
