Required Qualifications:

• A minimum of 1-2 years’ experience in a not-for-profit setting
• A college or university degree in a relevant field
• Strong verbal and presentation skills
• High-level ability in organizing fundraising events
• Proven ability to keep multiple projects moving in a timely manner and meet deadlines
• Proficiency in MS Office applications. Experience in Raisers Edge, Adobe Creative Suite or Canva an asset
• Proven accuracy and exceptional attention to detail
• Demonstrate independence and resourcefulness while working in a team-oriented environment

Key Responsibilities:

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Development Coordinator is responsible for securing financial and practical (goods) gifts through our Sponsor a Family program and seasonal food/gift drives. As well, the Development Coordinator supports third-party events and manages Mission Services fundraising special events. This position is an ambassador of Mission Services, presenting in-person and virtually to a variety of organizations including local businesses, schools, and service clubs.
The Development Coordinator will grow the community partnerships portfolio through cultivating current relationships and seeking new opportunities throughout Hamilton and area.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Coordinate Sponsor a Family drives, seasonal food/gift drives and fundraising drives, connecting with programs to keep up to date on needed items. Is the primary point of contact for community relations queries. Create and update Third Party Event Toolkit and Food/Gift Drive Toolkit(s)
• Manage Mission Services internal and third-party fundraising events including but not limited to, developing critical paths, researching and recommending event ideas, negotiating agreements and contracts, evaluating events ideas with potential supporters, and tracking event budgets and variances. Working with Development Team Members, identify possible sponsors and sponsorship levels
• Represent Mission Services at external events and meetings with service groups, churches, clubs, schools or businesses, and highlight our work
• Research prospective and current donors to determine interest in supporting events, drives, or prize donations. Respond in a timely fashion to emails from and calls with donors
• Responsible to ensure gifts are properly received, thanked, and recorded in Raisers Edge. Steward donors through thank you cards, personal notes on tax receipts, phone calls, social media, and newsletter
• Interact with other departments of Mission Services so as to understand their programs and clientele and to share this information with potential and current donors, as well as at presentations about Mission Services
• Create and implement, based on department intentions and Mission Services’ strategic plan, an annual strategy for food/gift drives and events
• Participate in the overall strategic development and execution of Mission Services’ Development communications, marketing, and resource development plan
• Contribute to newsletters, advertising, social media accounts, website, and other marketing and communications materials. Write updates on community events for newsletter
• Work safely, identify any health and safety concerns and report to management and follow Mission Services workplace health and safety policies and procedures at all times

Additional Details:

HOURS OF WORK:
• 37.5 hours per week Monday through Friday
• A hybrid model of working in the office and working from home is available for this role
• Flexible start time
COMPENSATION:
• *Hourly wage up to $24.34 per hour (starting rate dependent upon level of experience)
• *Benefits after 3-months of continuous, active employment
• *Group RRSP employer matching up to 3% after one (1) year of continuous employment
REQUIREMENTS:
• Police Vulnerable Sector Check
• Two-Step Tuberculosis Skin Test
• Proof of COVID-19 vaccination, or willingness to register to receive this vaccination as soon as possible
