Required Qualifications:

This position is funded by the iAdvance Pathways Program and candidates are required to meet the following Eligibility Criteria:
• Be a Newcomer to Canada (landed in Canada within the last 5 years)
• Be a Permanent resident of Canada or Canadian Citizen or a person for whom refugee protection has been bestowed under the Immigration Refugee and Protection Act, and be legally entitled to work in Canada
• Be a resident of Ontario, Nova Scotia, British Columbia, or Alberta, Canada
• Is unemployed or underemployed at the time of the application
• Have ability to commit to complete the six-month program
• Hold a Diploma or bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or a related field.
• Have a Language level CLB7 or higher.
Education and Experience Requirements

• Pursuing or completed degree or diploma in Business, Marketing or related field.
• Work experience in digital marketing, particularly within the education industry.
• Experience in animation & Adobe Suite.

Technical Skills Required

• Proficient in graphical programs including Adobe Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign) and Canva Premium.
• Solid knowledge of website and social media analytics tools.
• Knowledgeable about leading and managing SEO, marketing databases, email, social media and other display advertising campaigns.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and Google Suite (Docs, Sheets, Slides).

Soft Skills Required
• Extremely competent at written and verbal communication.
• Understands target audience/customers.
• Excellent planning and coordination skills.
• Highly creative in identifying target audiences and devising digital campaigns that engage, inform, and motivate.
• Efficient problem solving, team work and organization skills.

Key Responsibilities:

We’re seeking a creative, driven and outgoing individual to join our team as a Marketing and Communications Strategist. The Strategist will be responsible for developing a marketing strategy to promote our brand and programs to appropriate audiences. The incumbent will implement marketing and advertising campaigns by assembling and analyzing sales forecasts; preparing marketing and advertising strategies, plans, and objectives; planning and organizing promotional presentations; and executing plans. The incumbent will help create partnership opportunities with school boards and corporate sponsors. The incumbent will create all associated content including posters, social media posts, videos and other multimedia content to engage online customers and the general public, and prepare marketing reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing sales data. The Strategist will have expert level knowledge in using Google SEO, Facebook, Twitter and Instagram digital marketing tools and be able to create posts, host lives, create stories, publish content and run data analytics to boost engagement. The Strategist must be comfortable with appearing in online spaces to represent Mathstronauts.

Additional Details:

35 hours weekly for 6 months (September 2022 – February 2023) with possibility of extension.

Mathstronauts is a federally incorporated non-profit organization founded in 2016. We design, develop and deliver inclusive and equitable quality STEM education for middle & high school students (grades 5 – 12). Using a multidisciplinary project-based learning (PjBL) approach, our mission is to remove barriers to STEM education to empower young people to develop STEM skills focused on digital literacy and coding.
