Job Position: Grant and Funding Specialist – Part-Time (Remote/Hybrid)

Required Qualifications:

– 3+ years of grant writing or funding proposal experience in construction, housing, or nonprofit sectors
– Deep understanding of Canadian funding programs for both businesses and homeowners
– Excellent writing, editing, and communication skills, with an ability to simplify complex funding terms
– Experience creating application tools and guides for non-technical audiences (e.g., homeowners)
– Strong project coordination, deadline management, and CRM tracking skills
– Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and online grant portals

Key Responsibilities:

– Identify federal, provincial, and municipal grants and incentives relevant to construction, restoration, and green building
– Monitor funding calendars and update leadership on deadlines, requirements, and eligibility changes
– Analyze program guidelines to determine fit for the company’s restoration, innovation, and workforce development priorities
– Research funding programs for homeowners and heritage property owners (e.g., CMHC, Enbridge Home Efficiency Rebates, Ontario Renovates, Heritage Property Grants)
– Analyze eligibility criteria for both corporate and client-focused grant programs
Prepare compelling applications, proposals, and supporting documents for funding submissions
– Gather financials, project data, and strategic insights from internal teams to align applications with program criteria
– Customize content for government, industry associations, and private foundation funding bodies
– Develop templates and tools to assist clients (homeowners or developers) in applying for restoration-related grants
– Tailor submissions to match funding goals (e.g., building envelope upgrades, energy retrofits, façade restorations)
– Track the status of grant submissions, reporting deadlines, and compliance requirements
– Coordinate post-award reporting, including financial tracking, narrative progress reports, and outcome measurement
– Maintain detailed records of all applications, approvals, and correspondence
– Ensure grant use compliance for both company-led and homeowner-supported projects

Additional Details:

– Knowledge of equity-focused, newcomer, or low-income homeowner funding pathways
– Fluency in French or other languages spoken in diverse Ontario communities

This part-time role is ideal for an experienced grant writer who understands government incentives for construction, energy retrofits, heritage preservation, and homeowner renovation programs. The successful candidate will support internal capital funding needs (equipment, workforce, innovation), and also guide homeowners, developers, and property owners through the process of accessing available grants for their restoration projects.
