Required Qualifications:

THE OPPORTUNITY
Working closely with all Employment Services personnel, you will prepare and facilitate Goodwill client-workshops and community information sessions. In addition, with the goal of increasing client referrals you will promote Goodwill Employment Service programs through conducting various community outreach.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE
As an ideal candidate you recognize the importance of employment in a person’s life. You have a passion for helping and supporting individuals to overcome barriers to employment and to obtain meaningful work. Your passion is backed up by:
✓ Superior group presentation skills and public speaking, with sound knowledge of adult learning techniques.
✓ Knowledge and/or experience serving clients with employment barriers, including disability.
✓ Sound working knowledge of WORD, Excel, Outlook, as well as various presentation technologies including PowerPoint, Prezi, YouTube, etc.
✓ Well-organized individual, with strong problem-solving skills and self-initiative.
✓ Team player but must be able to work independently with minimal supervision.
✓ Must be customer oriented, self-motivated with a positive attitude.
✓ Creative thinker with interest and insight into local community needs and available resources.
✓ Post-secondary education in Social Services, training and development, employment services, or similar discipline.
✓ A minimum of 3 years’ experience in group facilitation with a diverse participant base with varying abilities.

Key Responsibilities:

THE OPPORTUNITY

In addition, with the goal of increasing client referrals you will promote Goodwill Employment Service programs through conducting various community outreach.
THE DELIVERABLES
Success in this position will be achieved through the development and delivery of client workshops & community information sessions, and other community outreach. Deliverables include but are not limited to:
• Creating new or updating current client-workshop content and materials to meet current or future program needs.
• Working closely with Career Centre personnel keeping abreast of new or changing program requirements from a workshop content point of view.
• Creating new or updating existing content and materials for community information sessions, with the goal of to increase awareness of Goodwill in the community.
• Delivering client-workshops to groups of varying attendance size and abilities using in-person as well as on-line technologies as applicable.
• With the goal of increasing client referrals, actively seeks out opportunities to conduct information sessions and other presentations to community groups such as Service Canada, District School Boards, Colleges, and other community partners etc.

Additional Details:

THE DETAILS
• As a full-time position the work week consists of 5 days per week with 37.5 to 40 hours.
• The candidate must have the flexibility to work days, with some evenings and weekends.
• This is a salaried position with a benefits package including healthcare, dental, vision, life insurance, Long-term Disability, and pension plan eligibility.
• While the role will be based in our Upper Gage Career Centre, there will be periodic visits required to all Goodwill locations in Hamilton and Halton, as well as visits to various employer and community locations, therefore a valid driver’s license and full-time access to a vehicle properly insured for occasional business use is required.
• The successful candidate will be required to have a Criminal Records Check completed at the Vulnerable Sector level. (Internal candidates may already have this on file.)
