Required Qualifications:

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE
As an ideal candidate you recognize the importance of employment in a person’s life. You have a passion for helping and supporting individuals to overcome barriers to employment and to obtain meaningful work. Your passion is backed up by:
✓ Post-secondary degree or diploma in a related discipline.
✓ Minimum 2 years of related experience in employment or social services.
✓ Experience working with Employment Ontario and MCCSS programming is an asset.
✓ Knowledge and/or experience serving clients with employment barriers, including disability.
✓ Sound knowledge of employment counselling and job coaching techniques.
✓ Strong facilitation skills, both in group setting and one-on-one.
✓ Solid case noting and record keeping skills.
✓ Experience with negotiating job placements.
✓ Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
✓ Sound working knowledge of various software including Microsoft Office and Outlook.

Key Responsibilities:

THE OPPORTUNITY
Working closely with our job search clients, you will determine client suitability and eligibility for the applicable employment program. You will work directly with clients to develop individual employment action plans and facilitate individual and group employment training sessions. In addition, you will liaise with employers and community organizations to connect clients with employment opportunities. This is a full-time permanent position. While the initial assignment will be supporting our Skills Advance Ontario (SAO) program in Halton, future assignments may vary.
THE DELIVERABLES
Success in this position will be achieved through the delivery of exceptional client/customer service and effective employer and community outreach. Deliverables include but are not limited to:
• Accurately assessing client suitability and eligibility for program service, including case conferencing with team members, internal and community partners to discuss client needs.
• Providing employment support, coaching, and counselling to clients.
• Assisting clients through essential skills and technical skills training.
• Facilitating group-based training sessions focused on employability skills and job placements.
• Reaching out and building relationships with employers and local community groups to market our service and to identify and obtain job placement opportunities.
• Ensuring accurate, timely, and effective case notes are kept for each client enabling proactive decisions and course corrections for the individual employment action plan.

Additional Details:

THE DETAILS
• As a full-time position the work week consists of 5 days per week with 37.5 to 40 hours.
• The candidate must have the flexibility to work days, with some evenings and weekends.
• This is a salaried position with a benefits package including healthcare, dental, vision, life insurance, Long-term Disability, and pension plan eligibility.
• As the role includes periodic employer site visits a valid driver’s license and full-time access to a vehicle properly insured for occasional business use is required.
• The successful candidate will be required to have a Criminal Records Check completed at the Vulnerable Sector level. (Internal candidates may already have this on file.)
