SAO Food Manufacturing Employment Program: Register

Skills Advance Ontario (SAO) offers free online training and resources to help you get employed in the food manufacturing industry. This program supports job seekers to obtain employment by providing them with sector-specific training with provincially and federally recognized certifications, and connecting them to the right employers. This project is funded by Employment Ontario.

Register for SAO Food Manufacturing Employment Program

Program start date is 24 January. Late registrations until Wednesday January 26 are welcome!

What the SAO Program offers:

  • 5 weeks free online training with access to monetary supports to offset the cost of training
  • 4 weeks paid, supported employment with access to monetary supports to transition into employment
  • Full-time employment with the first month supposed to help off-set the cost of work equipment (uniform, transportation, personal supplies)
  • Mondays to Fridays from 9:30am to 12:30pm
  • All course materials, presentation, videos, discussions will take place online, however, accommodations provided for individuals who need in-person support and training

Eligibility

  • Having an interest in food manufacturing
  • Legally entitled to work in Canada
  • Unemployed or working less than 20 hours per week
  • 18+ years old
  • Living in Hamilton or Halton
  • Newcomers with a Canadian Language Benchmarks (CLB) Level 5
  • No past experience needed

Minimum requirements

Skills Advance Ontario incorporates a hybrid learning model utilizing an online and experiential curriculum to develop a skilled and dedicated workforce.

  • If clients do not have access to these equipment, it will be provided to them for free.

Training Details

Skills Advance Ontario participants will have access to monetary support during the 5 weeks of training to offset the cost of the training. Participants will learn essential and technical skills specific to the food manufacturing industry with micro-certifications that are provincially and federally recognized. The technical training is run by Mohawk College.
